Default '99 Cobra vs. '03-'04 Cobra

I am trying to decide which would be a better buy when I get home from Iraq and trying to figure out all the differences between the two. Can anyone tell me of anything other than the Eaton and the diff. trannys? Is anything else different at all? I didn't think the 99 had forged internals but I was told by a friend they do. Thanks

Curtis

The 99's do not have forged internals...they have an aluminum block. The 03 and 04's have forged internals.

They have different:
seats
radio
bumpers
engine
tranny
spoiler
convertible top
wheels

There are a LOT of differences. Heck, there are a lot of differences between the 99 and 01's.

If you get a 99, check to make sure it has the "fix". They were released and dynoing low for what they were supposed to be, so Ford did a recall for a few years back in 2000-2001 ish and put a new intake, exhaust, and something else to make sure they all made at least 320 Hp at the crank.

What he said...

But, if money isn't an option - get the 03' and never turn back. You just are looking at a difference in 5-10k for the purchase price...

It really depends upon the year. The 03 & 04's seem to be going in the lower to mid 20's for a fairly stock car and mid to higher 20's for a modified one.

You can pick up a 99 for 10-11ish with few or some bolt ons. Your looking at 12-15K in my opinion. Is it worth it? I think so...I just done have enough to throw around yet to get one.

+1 to everything eveyone said.

Also terminators have the best resale value too. In 5-10 years they'll probably jump 10-15% in their worth. I

If muscle cars ever have a huge comback (like we've been slowly seeing happening lately thank god) they'll be worth ALOT more. If that happens you could look at them like how the supra is to ricers, the terminator is to muscleheads. Thus you'd be able to sell them for the horribly inflated price that the supras go for, and probably even more considering they only made them for 2 years and they're newer.

I beg to differ. The cobra will not inflate in price like supras. I think they will actually drop in price. With the comaro and other high hp muscle cars coming back out soon the termi will have much more competition and will then be a 5 y/o car.

If you're gonna put a kenne bell on, the absolute best way to go is the terminator. Reason for this, the terminator block and internals are MUCH stronger than the 99-01 cobra block and internals. Once you start hitting the higher boost on a supercharged99-01 cobra, you're risking blowing your motor. IMO (and I'm sure many will agree with me) the terminator is muchmore capable of handling 500-600 hp. Get the terminator, you will NEVER regret it.
