my 97 cobra gets hot so quickly and it's hot inside the cab???
I was just wondering if anyone has a problem with their 96-98 cobras running hot as hell! I have a 160 degree thermostat, added royal purple, purple ice in with the radiator fluid and have o/r mid pipes. I have also done a radiator flush. The car gets hot so quick. It doesn't overheat, but the center console where the shifter is and back gets sooooo hot. It is uncomfortable to sit in my car for a period of time. I'm wondering since my mid pipes are right there if that is what is doing it? The temperature gauge shows it on the L on normal. It just stays there steady. I'm wondering on the inside issue if I got a heat shield for the mid pipes if that would solve the heat index of 100 degrees inside the cab. If anyone has any advice please send it my way.

Try removing the drain cap on your radiator pipe (black pipe just before your intake manifold) and let the car run so the radiator can burp if need be.

I had the same problem in my 6cyl. It might be because you have a short throw shifter in your car. Take off your shift boot and if you can see your short throw shifter then this is the problem. If you can see your short throw then your missing your shift plate. There is suppose to be a shift plate that bolts to your floor that goes right over your shifter. It has a rubber boot on it that goes over your shift handle and covers everything. If you don't have it you will get a lot of heat in the car and also quite a bit of noise and the occasional wetness when it rains. If you don't have it and you want one go to the ford dealership and they can look it up for you. Let me know how this goes!!

i specifically remember putting the shift plate back in. i did put the boot back on. i actually put a gasketunder the shift plate to keep some noise out. thanks for the comment.

I was gonna say maybe burp your coolant as well but someone already mentioned that. My cobragets a lil warm sometimes when I'm driving, but nothing that is uncomfortable to me. I only notice it really on days above 90 degrees typically.
