Default 03-04 engine reliability?

O.K. well i want to get the cobra for my next stang but want to know since they have forged internals and forged block does it make the engine last alot longer than the gt? I plan to get one when the price of one is around 15k whick will prolly be a couple more years so that the gt500 will have been in prduction for longer and the miles of the 03-04 will have gone up, and maybe the price of one will be where i want it to be.

Thanks, alot!

They are well built engines. They should hold for a while when stock but when you start pumping up the boost you start to make the reliability diminish. I have heard of Termi's with stock internals holding over 700 RWHP.

The motor being Forged doesn't necessarily mean it would last longer than a GT. What it does mean is that it can hold a lot more power than a GT can hold.

What will affect engine longevity is maintenance, and the tune. After modding, If the engine is properly maintained and you have a good tune, there's no reason why your motor wouldn't last a long time.

O.k. Now i understand so the forged internals just makes the engine stronger.

Thanks, alot!

The Terminatos kryptonie so to speak is heat and tuning. If you modify it - you have to make sure that not only the tune is 100%, but that you have all the cooling modifications done. A lot of people popped there motors by doing 160mph runs for extended period of time... and staying in boost to long.
