hello everyone ive been in the market for a new car for some time now and still havnt put my foot down on what i truley want, ive looked into ls1 cars camaro trans ams gt0 and even the ls2 gto but financing is too much... but i had a 2004 v6 mustang loved it but since i have a good amount of money i just want to invest in the best thing as far as all around package goes are the 99 01 02 cobras good cars, can they keep up with mildly modified camaros and birds, if no what mods would allow it to do so????

 

Bone stock the LS1 will eat your lunch every time. But with some mods you can be right with them. They will need some work to hang with a mild LS1.

CAI, Long Tubes and off road X pipe with a cat back and a Tune you should beat a stock LS1.

 

hmm figured as much just so hard to find a clean camaro and i already got a 5.0 thought i might switch it up and get something different for a change, but something about the new edge mustang body i just love it... how are they as far as reliability?

 

I havent had any probs with mine 65,000 miles other than the T-45 I just blew out.
I have heard from alot of people that the Trans is the weakest link in the 99's. I think the 01's have a different trans though.(Stronger)

 

if the money is right id get a 03 mach 1 mustang... aluminium block, shaker, 32v DOHC, retro look, and a clean very low miles on ebay sells for 20k ish and will hang with the LS1 and will be close to an LS2 in the 1/4 mile in stock form and you bein a good driver... CAI, exhaust, tune, and one or two few otherthings you will smoke an LS1 and be a force to be reckoned with LS2 gto in stock form... so mach 1 it is [sm=burnout.gif]

 

Hey man look around i got my 03 for a steal like a real steal and mods for the 03-04 cobras are nutts to say the least. The ls1 or ls2 guys will have some major problems keeping up with anything they put into their cars with the stock bottom end rather than the 03-04's have amizing bottom ends that are hard to break and you will never have problems with. And mods are pretty cost effictive also! Whats your spending limit?
