Why was the motor replaced? Was the tranny replaced also? I ask why, because if he blew his motor - hius tranny among other things may be weak also... just a thought...

My website is specific to the 2003/2004 Cobra, but this info can help cover the basics as far as what to check when buying a used Cobra. http://stangshiftergaskets.com/2003_...m#_Toc35092330

Well I got the cobra yesterday and I love it. The mods I have seen so far are as fallows.: Home made PVC pipe CAI painted to match the car, BBK 65mm Throttle body, short throw shifter, 1 : 3.73 gears(I think), magnaflow catted X-pipe, Magnaflow stainless steel cat-back, it may have more mods but I just havent looked hard enough. I also looked through the intale manifold and alternator and coolant piping and saw the vally of the block, it had square casting marks in the vally, does this mean I have a Teksid block? About the gears, I think they are 3.73s can anyone confirm, at 60mph in fifth gear the engine is at 2,400rpm. I may have to change out the gears to save on gas. Oh and there was a dyno sheet that came with the car that said It had 297.3 RWHP and 293.4 RWTQ

Sounds like a good find. More than likely the block is not a teskid block as very few 99s had them, especially if it was later replaced. The rwhp sounds about right for the mods listed with a tune. Oh also DO NOT get rid of those gears! the stock ones suck!!! cobras are not GTs they make power higher up in the rpm band and gears get them where they need to be quicker. You bought a cobra, I hope you were just kidding about getting decent gas milage. Oh and lastly congrats

It should get at least as good as my ranger does. It hade a rebuilt long block put in it 35k miles ago. I think that it is a teksid block because I have sean hyland's book and the vally of the block looks like the teksid block pictured in his book. Where would I find the block number?
