Default 4v swap

im getting an 03 cobra motor to put into my 2000 gt. im only gettin the motor, and ecu. what else do i need to complete this conversion and how much am i looking to spend. tranny comes with the motor too

You need to overhaul your suspension... you have the ecu, tranny and motor... you really need the suspension also...

yahh man its a lot of work and mabe think of just building your engine and gettin a stroker 5.1L kit with a supercharger? Might be cheaper that way same hp or so and a lottttt less work...

The suspension on the GT is great for track applications. A lot of guy over at SVT Performance are running a solid axle for racing. The IRS is a real pain to bulletproof but can be done. Keep your rear!

I wasn't talking about going to the Cobra suspension... I meant he has to really fortify everything... his stock axle wont do much but break if he doesn't fortify it...

I assumed you were talking about the front suspension. Aren't the 4 valve motors quite a bit heavier? I'm thinking about doing this swap too, but precious little information is to be found on the topic.

BTW, priced out a rear end build with an electronic locker and excluding new gears, came out to a little under $1200.

the 4v motor is heavier... you have the extra stuff inside + 55lbs for the blower + blower accessories....

I would just build it up as much as you could....

Aren't the heads larger and heavier too?

Edit: I've heard somthing about needing a guage cluster from a Cobra, why is that?

for the right speedo, and all that... unless you just want to reflash your stock GT one... i guess.
