I see no one replied yet so I will... I have a 97 cobra also and recently lowered the car 2" in the front and 1.8" in the rear.I used Maxspeed lowering springs which no one on this forum replied to my request as to how good they were and tried using the stock shocks withcheap caster camber plates.Trust me from experience do not try that because you will be doing it all over again unless you like the feel of a go cart. The Maxspeed lowering springs are working great (just the stance I was looking for) and no too low that it hits everything. Ireplaced the shocks with AGX adjustables andMaximum Motorsport Caster/Camber plates. Rides and looks good!
At leat to me that is!

like a go cart? as in good handling or sliding all over the road? I have been looking to lower my 97 cobra as much as possible and still clear 285/40-17 in the rear

It handles great but is very bumpy on the firm settings. At the moment I have the front & back shocks set at 2 which rides close to the stock set up and just what I was looking for. The front has a 1-4 settting with 1 being soft and4 firm. The back has 1-8 setting with 1 being soft and 8 firm.

I also forgot to mention I have 1 inch spacers on the back rims due to lack of cash to put new rims & tires on. That's on my list though. So far I have added a Steeda shifter (blows away the stock shifter and makes it very hard to miss 3rd), BBK CAI and K&N filter.
