my cobra is done... "DEAD!!"
last week i was driving my car. i was on it pretty good (bad day at work). then after i got home my engine was making a ticking nosie. sounded like the top end. could not hear it at a idle but when it was up around 2 or 3 grand you could hear it pretty good. since then it has been parked. while it was parked i changed the oil spark plugs and brakes. when for a test drive and was running pretty good. just seemed like a lost of power alittle. started going up a hill and lost all power and "boom" all my oil was flying behind me. opened the hood and saw fire!!! got the sucker towed home. and jacked it up and something was slammed through the oil pan. piston? thats what i think. so thinking that the car is done for. or some major work!!! anyone know what happen or could of happen? any of the recalls cover any of this (probully not)?
and the other thing to make this whole situation worse was i was hanging out with this girl for the second time and then this happen!!! then my buddies comes home and just mess' everything up....

RE: my cobra is done...
really sorry about your loss. sounds like u sent a rod through the pan!! No recalls or warranties would ever cover that, lol, but again, really sorry. sounds like u been thru a lot. when i opened this thread, "my cobra is done", i thought it would be a project u just finished and u were excited about, not the exact opposite.

My guess is detonation broke off part of your piston skirt and was tossing that around the engine. This is prob. where your power loss came into effect. Did you notice any oil on any of your plugs when you pulled them?

no. everything looked ok. thats the thing that makes me think. it seems like the bold on the piston was coming undone and thats where the ticking nosie came from and then it just came off. like i can see one side of the ring and it looks clean. so i might be taking the engine out next week and take a good look at it. but my buddie has a lightning engine that all it needs is pistons and rods and it complete. so i might go that route if there is to much damage.
