ok lol hold on... there are NO 2003/2004 Cobras that dyno stock over 400rwhp...

They normally dyno between 350-380rwhp... They cost in the mid 20s you can find 99-01 Cobras for high teens, along with Mach 1's..

Unless you get yourself a 98/99 Cobra for around 9-15k you're not going to see much difference payment wise if you get a 2001, 2003 or 2004 Cobra, or a 03/04 Mach 1...

I would get myself a 98 Cobra... if money is the issue with you. The car lasts as well as it's taken care of.
I would go with 99 over 98 since 99 comes with 320bhp vs 98 305. For the minor price difference worth one year newer and 15 more HP ....IMO

You know, my main reason would have been that the 98 had the Teksid block, but the 99 did too, I forgot that. However, the 99s are turds unless they were fixed. They don't perform. It had a recall so if the 99 is fixed, then great, otherwise it probably performs no better than the 96-98s. The 01s had many other improvements over the 99s too. The 3650 tranny, new cylinder heads, newer cobra seats, etc. There are a lot of things that make the 01s better than the 99s. To me I prefer the 96-98s based on looks (not to mention they'd be cheaper), or the 01.

Then again, you could just get an 03-04 and be done. [8D]

Hmm... I don't really agree with the prices here. You can definitely find a good 03 for low to mid 20s, and 01 for 15 or less, 99s are worthless, and 96-98s for 11-12 or less.

I'm kind of annoyed because I missed out on a REALLY nice 03 for $21,000. I know who owned it, it wasn't abused. Now I found one for $23,000 but it's yellow and I don't really like Ford's ugly yellows. I might see if I can get the price right but I probably just want to hold off until I find what I really want.
Why are the 99's worthless??? wuts the dif between 99 and 00-02?
I replied mostly above, but also, please remember, there basically aren't any 00 or 02 Mustangs. In 00 all they made were the 5.4L Cobra Rs which are extremely rare, and in 02 they just sent the production of Cobras (a whopping 100) to Australia, thus even more rare. (Hell, come to think of it, I don't think I've even ever heard of one before.)

Well... any that you are gonna do. You can dyno the engine itself but you have to take the engine out. It's only used to test run an engine before it's in the car. So yeah, if you put your rear wheels on a roller and test the HP, it's always rear wheel horsepower.

I picked up mine for 15,000$ with 42k miles. Cheapest one I could find within 200 miles, and probably the one in best condition!

yes when you dyno a car it always measures WHP... I hope you weren't being sarcastic...

You can't really touch a Terminator in good condition for under 24ish.. If you do, you either walked into a great deal, or it's a salvaged title...

You really have to go with the earlier Cobras for ones that cheap..

I got my 99' for $11,100 with 92k miles, 35k on the engine and trans. It came with the mods listed below. The paint is in great shape, bright red with a tan interior. I got it from a dealer too.

Get an 03-04. Built motors and SC. Cant beat it. with just basic bolt on its an easy 500 rwp. Cost will be anywhere from probably 23k to 30k depending on miles and mods.
