Default How to launch?

I'm going to be taking my 03 Cobra to Cedar Falls, IA on Oct. 27 for their last race day and this will be my first time so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to launch properly? I've got only a couple mods (2.93 pulley, short throw shifter, AFCO heat exchanger) so it would imagine that it's not going to be all that much different from launching a stock car. Tires will be Nitto 555 Extreme's, not 555R drag radials.

I'm aware that poly rear suspension bushings will help, same as drag radials, but I don't have them yet. Any tips/suggestions will be welcomed!

Thanks,
Nate

heat the tires up a bit and tray and slip the clutch at about 3000 rpm or so and see how that works. what kind of tune did you get for the car?

I agree the tires aren't the greatest, but I don't have the time to get new ones installed before Sat.

Do not go up to 3000 RPM to launch with those tires. All you will do is sit and spin and look like an idiot. My suggestion is to leave at about 2 grand, although you will have to practice to find the right launching RPM. With crappy tires, don't hope for much. Back when I had your mods I cut a 1.6 60ft on Nitto DRs, but nothing better than a 1.9 on street tires. I'd suspect your going to run a 13.xx the first time down the track.

if he slips the cluthc at 3k it sould bog him down a bit to around 2k or so before he sees the power. thats what i did to cut the 1.9's on my street tires the first time i went to the track. definitly get it tuned befor you go racing. you can try DB performance in Rogers, or Hi tech in elk river. i persnally use db and like the work that dan does there. You might have trouble getting it in for tuning on such short notice though. again do not race it or get hard into boost without a tune.

Hmmm...may be I should make a larger pulley ~3.2 for now and get used to launching that. My poly rear subframe and differential bushing kits came today, but unfortunately I have to go to school and work full time so I doubt I'll get them installed in time.

seriously if you are running anyhting but the stock pulley get a tune before you race, i talked to DB today and the earliest they have open is monday so that won't helpya, but if you run a small pulley with no tune you could easily go boom.
