Hey guys I'm looking into another Mustang but this time a Cobra. I here odds and ends about the 99's Cobras being the crap mustang is that true? I found two mustang, ones a 1999' svt Cobra 76k miles with little mods (suspension, exhaust etc) for $11300 or a completely stock 2001' svt Cobra with 64k miles for $14400... Whats the better deal?

considering the difference in price and simialar miles, I'd go for the '99.

I wouldnt call them the 'crap' cobra. They had a recall because they werent putting out the power they advertised. After 'the fix' they are up to par with the '01's. Few other minor cosmetic differences, and a 28-spline axle setup instead of the 31's in the '01, but 99's are a solid car.

Last week my 99 put down 301/297 with a CAI, midpipe, catback and pullies. Not what I would call crap....

 

Yup. Ford beefed up the differential brace between 01 and '03/04, but other than that the IRS in an 01 is basically identical to that in the Termy's.

Dont call our cars crap, lol. I would go with the 01' because it is completely unmodded and probably hasn't been abused. Pick the car you want to buy. Just remember to have the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy it. The 01' also has the newer interior that is specific to cobras, the 99' has pretty much the same interior as the GTs but with a cobra steering wheel. Good luck!

 

yeah, definitely get the 01. 99's come with the crappy t45 tranny. the tr3650's are a good deal better....
