PROBLEMS COMMON OR UNCOMMON!?!?!?
Im on my third 03 cobra cause I buy and sell to much. Out of the three of them I have had two similiar problems with all three. All three cobras had about 35xxx miles when this stuff happened.
Clicking noise when you turned left or right. Problem was fixed by putting in longer links in steering column area.
And the other is bushings in the rear that hold up the diff. When they start wearing out youget this nice clunking sound everytime you give and let off the gas. the diff moves about an eigth inch when you really start noticiing this. Sounds absolutely horrible though.
Anyone have any stock gears go out on them at 42xxx miles??? Mine are shot at 42. Im putting in some 390s soon.
Any other common problems you guys have seen or HEARD ABOUT?? So i can prevent this stuff from happening............

lol...funny that you mention this because i just bought my first 03' Cobra, and I too get that clunk when you let off the gas. i am taking it in to get the diff. bushing replaced as well. sounds like a flaw in the bushings from factory. other common problems is the clunk noise whe you first put it in gear, but there is a tsb out there saying this is "normal." whether it is normal or not...i have not a clue.

This is something i've answered about a dozen times.. the drivetrain clunk while it happens to most Cobras out there.. isn't "normal"... they need to go in and fix somethings in the differential casing... They (ford) replaced some shims and bearings they told me, and voila... mine is gone unless i screw up...

I just found out what my "thump" problem when you let off the gas, or get on it. Get under the car, and look at that big @$$ rubber piece that sits directly below your differential. Make sure those two bolts are tight as hell. If not, tighten them up! My car feels sooo much more solid now. Good luck...Shane.
warranty.
