I went to leave work today and my 99 cobra is sick. Car spits and sputters.. Acts like the computer is dying. When I turn the key to run there is the steady tone as always but is followed by five quick tones. Car will start but surges bad and sounds horrible. Does anyone know what the five tones mean or had this experience with their car.

 

Hey Man-

I have no idea what the five tones you are hearing are, but my 96 cobra started surging awhile back and I touched the battery cables and reset the computer, haven't had a problem since. My guess is the your engine is rapidly misfiring (On mine the check engine flashed quickly when this happened) or your MAF or IAC are having problems. Let me know if reseting the computer works for you. Good Luck
