Default Tick

When people talk about the 32v cars having a tick, is it coming from the top of the motor or the bottom of the motor. I just noticed a tick coming from my car today but it was coming from undernieth the car and doesn't speed up whenI speed up the motor. I thought it may have been clutch chatter but just seeing what others have to say...

the throw out bearing is more of a chirping sound, i had a tick coming form the underside of the driver side and it turned out to be a burnt up cylinder. the head tick comes form the top of the heads.

I can hear the tick in my passenger side head when I open up the driver dor. It's very apparent underneath the car. Heads are getting done next year anyways.
The sound probably does speed up, but gets diminished by the engine roar and it's hard to tell if it's there and also the relativity to the engine speed throws you for a loop most of the time! I'm not telling you what your problem is, but merely stating that you could be fooled by the engine spped and sound is all. Mine almost sounded like it was a leaking header tick, but further diagnosis told otherwise!

If you're hearing a definite ticking noise, if it is relatively loud, it could be the tick issue. Here's a link to information on my website. http://stangshiftergaskets.com/2003_...m#_Toc35092459

If it is a faint tick coming from the engine compartment, it is likely fuel injector noise, which is common. Can you better isolate where it is coming from? And did you recently change your oil filter? If so, what brand?

I also had a slight tick for a while, then one day 2 months ago I started my car and it became a knock, spun bearing kind of knock.. Now I've been waiting for my motor for 2 months [>:]

i have a 2000 mustang gt, but i was crusin round this area cause a termi is my dream car, no doubt. I have experienced a tick noise coming from under my passenger side valve cover. I can't figure out what it is, but it bugs the he** outta me. When the engine is cold, its all fine and dandy, but when i am warm or just crusin, the tick gets super loud and i have noticed a decrease in power. When i am sitting there idleing, it dose 3 ticks every few seconds. its pretty rythmic to. it doesn't seem to go with the rpms cause when i accelerate hard, it goes away, and when i let off the gas, its not there. any opinions or anyone who has experienced problems similar to this. please help. thanks
