Good Pistons & Rods For 97 Cobra
Whatsup guys, this last summer I put an NX dry kit on the Cobra, I am spraying a 150 shot. I know that the weak links on these motors are the pistons and rods. This winter I think I am going to do a Vortech S Trim and spray a 100 shot on top of it. So the internals will need to be upgraded, I am going to get my pistons and rods from DSS. I am not going to do the work myself, I know enough about the car but honestly once it comes to taking the heads off of these cars and tear into it internally thats where I stop lol. So with that in minddoes anyone have any ballpark figures for how much a reputable shop would charge to do the pistons and rods? I live in Southeast, Iowa and want to keep it relatively close to home, I also want to take it to a shop that has experience working on these motors.....so any figures and ideas would be helpful, I want to run about 18psi and a 100 shot on top of that....the Cobra cranks are pretty strong correct?

Most likely, I have a buddy that is a mechanic just getting him to help is the problem...I don't really think that there would be much to taking it out and putting it back in though. I don't know though do you have any idea how much both scenarios would be?

RE: Good Pistons & Rods For 97 Cobra
well im going to quote u the price that i paid (when i was younger, and didnt know anything about cars). i went to AMP performance with a blow up 2001 cobra (years back), and i paid a grand total of $7k. that was for a cast iron block, forged pistons and rods, they went through my heads and machined them, completely did everything. but that also included a chip and a tune, but i still think i got ripped.....
