can i bore my stock block?
I was gonna have my motor rebuilt. i cant make up my damn mind on what i want to do with the car. i think im just gonna get new rods and pistons and lower the compression. I was wondering if I can bore my stock block with out the walls being too thin? I plan on running turbo. I have the Teksid block.
ORIGINAL: redbullitt
should be able to go two or three over. Would not really go any more than that

To the OP... I wouldn't hesitate to bore it out a little. I went .030 on mine.. You have to make sure it's done by someone who is competent with aluminum blocks.. You must have the mains properly torqued in place, and torque plates for the head surface..
As strong as our blocks are... They're like a big bowl ofJello until everything is torqued in place. My crank wouldn't even turn until I torqued everything down.. Quite a leap of faith to continue building when you run into something like that...
yea im gonna have a reputable guy do it that has a shop around me. I was just concerned that the walls will be too thin. i was thinkin bout goin .020 over and drop low compression pistons and H-beam rods in. so at least i can run higher boost than 7lbs.
You can make a ton of power with a turbo setup and not have to incur the expense of having the block bored.
I think you should start by putting together a list of what you want the car to do.
Once you know where you want to go, then you can draw a better map as to how to get there.
I see too many people make the same mistakes: randomly throwing mods at the car because it's what everyone else has.
That'll waste time and a lot of money.
Too often you see people build a car to perform well in an application for which you use the car only 1% of the time. Typically, most people use the car ad a daily Driver 99% of the time.
Why do most of those people set the car up to drag race, which they do that other 1%?
Start making lists man.
