Default Missing gears!

Ok so one of the biggest mods i have to do with my cobra is the driver mod! I have a problem when i get lined up to race someone if its not a interstate race i tend to miss 3rd. If im on the interstate i do just fine. Will a short throw shifter help with this problem? i some times miss 2nd as well. I dont know how i do that but it still happens....any ideas?

it would help you get into 3rd easier along with a potential shorter shifting time
i would look into getting one

itll help you into 3rd, but maybe thats a sign you shouldnt be racing, i can honestly say in all the times i raced my 2 fox's i only missed 3rd once and its because i popped off the clutch to fast. i dont see how you miss 2nd though, thats a straight down gear.

A short shifter would absolutely help you. If you have a big problem with it, the Tri-Ax probably has the strongest centering springs which will help you pop out of second, over to center, so all you have to do is push upwards and it'll go right in. It's also obviously much shorter so you can get it into gear faster in case your foot is going too fast on the clutch.

Most people prefer the MGW since it's smoother, but the Tri-Ax (in my opinion having owned both) is a better race shifter due to it's even more solid and stiff feel.

Better overall, yes, I agree, but my point with the Tri-ax is that it's got stronger springs and will pop to center harder making it even harder to miss 3rd. I always suggest the Tri-Ax as a racing shifter and the MGW as a street and even occasional strip use shifter.

Really, the solution is not to try to slam gears until you get more comfortable with your transmission. You should know your car well enough that you aren't banging gears no matter how bad your shifter is. You transmission is worth more than a split second faster shifting.

Yeah i dont know how the heck i have missed 2nd the two times i have but i have...i cant explain it but the missing third part just really sucks. I think alot of me missing gears is me getting nervous. I only do it when i know the guy next to me or i have someone in my car with me. Now my shifter in my car doesnt pop back to the middle which is why i think i have a problem hitting 3rd. if you are sitting still and the car isnt running you can move the shifter left to right and it will hold its self in the 1st and 2nd side and the 5th and 6th side. Its really wierd i dont know if its suppose to do that or not? And as far as me not racing whats the point in that. I mean the best way to learn to shift and race is to go out and do it right? I have been driving 4X4's in iraq the last few years so yeah still getting used to the 455RWHP 6 speed so give me a break dang!
