Default 1997 Cobra supercharger

Hy folks, I'm helping my buddy build up his car. 1997 cobra, convertible, 4.10 gears, underdrive pulleys, twin 65mm throttle body, long tubes, x-pipe and magnaflows. The next step is the supercharger. Our two options are either the vortech ho intercooled +175 hp or the kenne bell non intercooled +135 hp. Anybody have a similar setup or have any opinions and will we be having many problems. Will we need to get it tuned, chipped or anything else.....Are the injectors and fuel pump good enough ???

thanks,

If you buy a new kit, it should have injectors that suit the needs for the s/c. Also it will include an FMU or boost-a-pump.
Another thing you might want to check into is the U/D pullies with the kenne Bell style blower. The pullies will mess with the boost. I believe all twin screws have the same problem.

I went with the kenne bell and i couldnt be happier. I love having the boost right away. and the whine omg is all i can say about the whine. Your injuectors are ok if running lower boost but if you get in the teens you will want to get a bigger ones. You will want to take the underdrive pullies off . Kenne bell does supply a boost a pump but im not shure how much boost you will want to run before you change out your pump for a bigger one.

Paulstang, what kind of boost are you running, and how much hp do you think you got out of it. Did you take it to quarter ??

Thanks

I am running at 7psi( to be on the safe side but i do have a 9 and 11 pound pully). IM makingclose to 400 but i also have a pretty aggressive tune. I have not been to the track yet due to me putting the blower on at the end of the season so i didnt make it out there yet, but i do plan on taking it there this spring. I will also have to get better tires due the the tire shredding torque i get out of her.

The kit is very easy to install all you need are basic skills, and how to read the instructions. It took me 4-5 hours to put it on and thats from the start of teardown to starting the car. If you know how to put a lower and upper intake on this will be a snap. If you run into any problems let me know ill do my best to help.

Today we ordered the Kenne Bell with the 7lbs pulley, centreforce clutch, ford aluminium drive shaft, msd coils, maximum motorsport rear control arms, eibach coil springs, tokico d-spec shocks and struts and energy bushings all around. I think the car should move pretty well. Anybody have any opinions...
