Default Advice on headers - 98 Cobra

I have some work to it I need to complete first, but headers are going to be the next addition to the car I would like to add.

What exactly is involved with using LT headers. Do I have to cut? weld? Are there any bolt in kits for using LTs?

Is it worth it just to go with the shorter ones?

Default RE: Advice on headers - 98 Cobra

The biggest hardship I encountered with My LT headers were the bolts! I used Stage * locking header bolts and will NEVER use them again. There's no room to find the threads. Then Once you get them all tightened which took me like 6 hours, you have to somehow hold the retainer in place and snap the outer ring in place. I did this with the engine in the car which I'm sure others will call BS on it. Or atleast call me crazy! You need to drop the kmember for those bolts. I would reccomend using stock header bolts as the install will be much easier! Clean threads for the nuts will be a bonus. I used BBK and had no issues for clearance. starter drop, steering shaft drop, motor lift a few inches and also, the dipstick challenge. I had one hell of a time bending my dipstick to properly fit it in the hole. If I were to do it all over again and were to use BBK headers..... I stronglt reccomend cutting the flange between the #2 and #3 headers so you don't have the dipstick problem. MAC primaries have seperate flanges unlike the BBK's. This is the part that sits flat against the head and instead of being individual pieces it's one big plate. I will not hurt integrity of the header!!!
