Default Any cammed termies?

Sorry if its a repeat. I tried doing a search and had trouble with it. For some reason this forum runs very slow forme andhas logging issues.Being winter and all, I am bored because I dont drive my car much, so I am working on a list of mods to buy and install for spring. Already got my H&R Race springs waiting in the garage, wheels coming soon (once decided) and now for sound and performance I am thinking of going LTs, O/R Prochamber, Cams and heads! I dont want to jump into these things because of smog purposes, so I wanted to ask, when would our cars be due for smog. I have an 04? Also, what type of cams and heads would you guys recommend?

i dont know much about cams, but your heads arent to far from flowing like ther FR500 heads.

The heads on these cars really suck..

But as far as cams - while im not sure which ones people normally use, I can tell you that most do not cam their cobras... because the cost isn't worth the gain. For close to the same amount of money you can throw on a new blower that will run more efficient then any cam. Most people that cam these cars, have the money to throw away and love the sound.

I wouldn't cam the car, but if you're dead set on it - might wanna check out svtperformance... i know there are a few guys on there that have em.

well they flow pretty well from what I understand, but they tend to blow very easily. read up on the head tick.

yeah, they flow almost as well as the Fr500's

if your port them surprise they give you a lot nicer power range, and since your porting might as well add aftermarket rockers and lifters and springs. that should reduce if not eliminate the possibility of the head tick

Head tick is caused by the hot-spot the heads have that can/will cause head/piston failure. There is a work-around for that to make the heads more evenly cooled by changing the flow of the cooling system.

This is just one of the many sites and products that address that issue.

I know what causes the head tick. The head tick is mainly the problem due to the head design. Which is why, for "the fix" all you need is the updated heads, which doesn't really address the cooling problem in the #7/8 heads.

To avoid the tick, you really need the supporting cooling mods, and not do WOT runs for 15+ seconds, regardless of your setup.
