Default Turbocharging '97 Cobra

I am interested in putting turbo on my '97 Cobra as I am not ready to invest 3-4k on a supercharger. I was curious as to what I would need to complete this mod and the best equipment to go with. Also, how much horsepower increase would I see? Thanks!

you will have at the very least 3000k in it, if you did everything yourself

A prominent Turbo set-up will run you almost 5g's for the product! You cannot run a Turbo set-up on a stock motor. Most Turbo set-ups run around 16-20psi of boost and the stock engine can only handle 8-10 intercooled at most

www.turbomustangs.comthese guys are running turbos and TT's on stock motors. Im already in the works on putting a turbo on my car. I had a shop give me an estimate on piping. planning on running round 7lbs.

you can have a DIY turbo kit made for under 2g's. you just wont make as much power as if you plan. cobras will make a substantial amount of street power with just 7-8lbs.

Turbos are a lot more expensive in general and in maintence also. But because of the cobra with the DOHC redlining at 6800 rpm a turbocharger would put more output than a s/c on these cars. I always thought turbos on american muscle is a no no but this is the best forced induction for cobras. Turbo-kits has a single and twin turbocharger available

a cheaper way i would suggest is buy the parts seperet and get a muffler shop to weld the turbos in place
and the rest of the pipes
only thing you wold probly need is headers intercooler turbos (ofcorse) and oil lines
o and intake
id suggest bolt on turbos with internal wastegate
much cheaper and saves the problems for buying external wastegates and headers for the wastegate

would still cost you about 2 3k

found a nice turbo kit on ebay for about 6,000$
but comes with everything you cuold dream of

includes fuel injectors and fuel pump

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-04...spagenameZWDVW

take a look at it
