Default TB question

well we all know 96-98 cobras come stock with twin 57mm, so im going to upgrade, the thing im curious about is wiether or not to go with a twin 62mm or twin 65mm, i figure twin 65mm = too big and would end up hurting me, but with full exhaust, jlt cai, a twin 62mm with a bigger maf would help me a bit.

well im 99% positive it would because it flows almost 1700cfm if not more, and thats a bit much for anything non forced induction unless you do a serious h/c swap with nice intake porting & maybe removing the imrc plates.

The stock throttle bodies flow well enough that they really aren't a restriction point until you start making around 600 HP on the 4v's. The real restriction is with the intake manifold and heads. I've seen articles where a PnP or extrude hone on those parts will increase flow around 20%.

+1...

MM&FF did dyno testing on the early 4v motors and only saw 1-3hp increase AT THE CRANK w/ an aftermarket throttle body... Not worth the $300+ they're going for...

well i plan on doing a full port job on the heads and honing the intake and removing the plates, unless i can find an aftermarket intake that will fit a 96 cobra, and maybe some 01 heads, with a 99-01 intake. but id rather keep my stock heads & find an aftermarket intake but i dont know of any. so help? lol

JLT CAI. They sell a 96-98 CAI and RAI. There is an inake thread that has this same discussion with different pros and cons of each intake.

the jlt is not an intake, its considered induction, and yes i have the jlt induction already, the fenderwell mount, i want an actual aftermarket intake manifold. and i dont know anybody that makes aftermarket intake manifolds.

I think sullivan makes a manifold but its still better to get stock ported and polished. The fenderwell JLT mount is called a "Cold Air Intake", which is why i thought that is the induction component you meant.
