Offset question.
So when I bought my car (2001 SVT 'vert)it had already been lowered, not sure how far exactly. Its not slammed, but nicely lowered. The one thing I don't like about this is the appearance of the rear wheels, they appear to be sucked into the well.
So, I can fix this by:
A. Wheel spacers. Can only goto 1/4 inch. After that I am looking at quite large spacers which I don't like the idea of / nor do I need that much space.
B. New rims with a different offset.
So my question is what would be the best way to solve this problem?
Also has anyone done this and if so how much space did you put in?
If I move the wheels, keeping in mind the softer suspension of the convertible, am I in danger of rubbing the fender on a bumpy turn?
- also does anyone know if the FRPP M55 exhaust is still available, I may be ordering it next week. Any criticism of that move would be appreciated.

I'm glad you asked that, I'm in the same boat. I don't really care for the idea of spacers and the lightwieght of the stock wheels. It was suggested to me to go with 275 rear tires but don't know.
Well:
A. There's nothinmg wrong with having some spacers, just get quality hub-centric ones. 1" spacers that have the lugs on them are just a hair short and will cause your lug studs to touch the back of the wheel so you will have to shave them down about 1/8-1/4". Not a big deal since there aren't any threads until about 1/2" from end. I had to do this because 1-1/4 will be very close to rubbing if you decided to go wider and anything bigger will rub no matter what. Also, your back tires don't steer so there's no reason for them to rub when you make turns or bumps! Uneven surfaces causes the back tire to actually tilt or lean inwards on the top. Just use a straight edge from the outside of the tire to the wheel well. a 1" hub-centric will be fine even with a 275/40/17 tire.
B. There's no comparison the the offest rim. It looks hot!
C. How can you be ordering it if you don't even know if htye make it anymore???? It's the same exhaust as the Borla Stingers. Hot ****

The guy at the Ford parts department wasn't positive if they were available anymore as they are no longer in the catalogue. But, next week I will order them then we will find out.
