03 Cobra, Clutch question
So i got my 03 svt from carmax two nights ago. A new clutch was installed, but I dont know if it feels right. It grabs low and is tight, but there is a little play in it before pressing down on it. I've been smelling what I believe is possible clutch riding, but I've been very careful and I dont know if the smell could be from anything else. It's got me a little worried. Do I need to have it adjusted. Lemme know what you guys think. Thanks.

RE: 03 Cobra, Clutch question
how many iles do you have on the new clutch? i know that alot of them have a break in period. if you have just barely driven it since the install that could be all it is. if it really feels off you may want to have it looked at.

I too made the mistake of buying from carmax. They are not qualified to work on svt's.After much debate i got them to just pay me back after taking mine to a certified dealer. They tried to repair an o2 sensor on mine andjammedthe stock 3 wires into a 4 wire plug.Argue with them, they willwork with you.

RE: 03 Cobra, Clutch question
Alright, yeah cause if I do take it to a mechanic I wasn't sure whether to go to carmax cause I do have a 60Kmi warranty just incase anything major happens that I can't afford. But, I'll take it to a regular mechanic if it doesn't feel right.
It only has 25,000 mi on it. Not sure at what point the clutch was repaired. But the fact that its new did cross my mind and maybe it just gets worn in? I've only put on 30 miles since I bought the car so I'll give it another week and see if anything changes. Also, when taking off in 1st it almost feels like it's going to stall out because I try not to stay on the clutch too long to avoid the smell so it bogs a little bit while taking off. Ive just got to learn how to drive it a little better in the other gears as well. I'm used to driving a 5-sp ford explorer so I need to work on smoother shifting. I'll get back to yas if the smell does/doesnt go away. Thanks for the advice
