Default RE: Building IRS

The reason I got the cobra was for the IRS. I don't want a SRA because where I live there arn't many straight roads. I like the added handeling with IRS.

Is there a good writeup on how to build the IRS on a 99 Cobra? I want to change out the 29 spline axels for 31 spline and get a better differential. What parts are needed to build the IRS? Also, what kind of power can a built IRS hold? I'm looking to twin turbo my cobra and I think the IRS would be the first thing to break.

Does not see like an all out rear end build to me. Just because he is twin turboing does not indicat anyitng about the rear end. I also know that everything in the terminater is not indestructable hece the reaso I have a solid rear and have been rebuilding my motor to hopefully prevet blowing it up again. I know first hand the termie i not indestructable. I blew the diff cover in the IRS as well at one point. I ame certain however that the 03/04 IRS has heavier spline (31 i believe halfshafts) and a better diff. sounds alot like what the OP said he was doing. he may want to go all out but that is not what he posted. I simply responded to his question.

I think you should look into building the motor too if you are planning to turbo. that will go out before the reaer i would guess.

and Im responding saying that upgrading to stock 03/04 components is going to be MARGINALLY better than what he has right now. Its a lot of damn work only to find out down the road that you will break that as well with a turbo application.

the site provided above describes a FULL build on an IRS, which is what he is going to want to do for his turbo powered car.
