Default heat question

ive heard about if you do a top end run with a terminator (with the redline and top speed limiter off) that the engine will blow up? not that im going to do a top end run or anything im just trying to learn[8D]

but for fun and games @ 6500 rpms in 6th whats the top speed?? like 180+

hard to say, i think if you stayed in it long enough to reach that rpm in 6th it will blow. I buried the needle well past 160 at the top of 5th in my 522rwhp cobra. 6th is a 1:1 overdirve gear, so the load on the motor is at is highest and any acceleration is very very slow.

Mine did eventually pop the rings and cause some problems after several races followed but a high speed run. I had done several high speed runs before with no issue so it does not happen everytime. But i hhave never used 6th gear during one.

If your gonna go for a top speed run, do it and get right back down in speed. Dont keep doing it over and over again. I would stay away from doing it in 6th. Top speed in a modded Cobra is probably 175mph. Not 100% sure though. I know 160 is easy

just what i was told when we had a discission about it on another forum. it really depnds on you gear ration but 6th gear will be very clse to 1:1 which makes accelrating tough

You really want to make sure you're not spending to much time WOT... ARound 12-15 seconds is about as much as it can take.. I really tried to stay out of 5th/6th gear during high speed runs...

fyi... 4th gear is the 1:1 gear.... 5th and 6th are both overdrive gears which create the most heat.

TTC T-56 6-speed manual
1st Gear - 2.66
2nd Gear - 1.78
3rd Gear - 1.30
4th Gear - 1.00
5th Gear - 0.80
6th Gear - 0.63
Reverse - 2.90

Any prolonged run of an engine at high rpms will destroy the engine if its notcapable ofsustaining those rpms. and using a top speed estimator, the theoretical top speed of a stock termi is 250ish. But considering it takes an extra 200 hp to negate aerodynamic drag from 150-200 mph(and physics wont let 180 hp push a ~3500lb carto 150mph), you could only achieve that speed in a vacuum. 180 ismy estimate stock
