Default New ’03 Cobra owner need

Hi,

I just stepped into the Mustang owner market never having owned one before. Got a used convertible with 5k miles for decent price. I am totally dissatisfied with the hype I have heard about this car. Compared to a SC '02 Saleen there is no comparison in a lot of areas. Any '03 Cobra owners out here able to help me?

the clutch engages just before hitting the floor which is very aggravating. The shifter is very awkward, hard to hit 3rd, kinda glitches going in 2nd.

the super charger works immediately and the engine has smooth acceleration all the way thru pedal travel. The Saleen on the other hand has smooth acceleration thru half pedal depression but once u kick it the super charger 'series II' really kicks in and rpms redline really quick. I find the '03 Cobra takes forever to go from 2-6.5k rpms in all the gears (well 1-3 anyway). The Saleen rockets thru 3-6k rpms. I'm kinda stumped here. The supercharger on the Cobra should be really getting those rpms quick. Any one else experience this? Do I need some tweaking somewhere that I don't know about.?

Also the series II supercharger on the Saleen really 'whistles' when it gives boost but I don't hear squat from the supercharger on the Cobra??

Thanks in advance

I think the Saleen has a different gear ration than the Cobra. If you get a better gear ration you should really be able to accelerate alot faster. Also you can get a smaller pulley for the supercharger to add some more HPs.

The Cobra already has lower gears in it (3.55 vs. 3.27). 6 speed vs 5-speed also. This is even more reason to ask how is the super charger setup to run. The lower gears should definately get u to redline quicker but the Cobra doesn't do it.

here just throw on a lightnig pulley and then tell me what u think of the car... the stock pulley really holds back on the tru performance of the car.... put a lightning pulley on and u turn up the boost... to someting of that on the saleen....

Somthing else you might consider is whether the cobra is breathing as well. I couldn't hear the S/C on my 03 before changing the exhaust. Remember the car is corked up in stock dress. Many other factors go into how fast an engine will rev. Rotating mass, cam profile, etc..

I don't have any issues with mine. The clutch and tranny feel great...notchy like a mans car should be.

I't sounds like a jet taking off.

If you haven't gotten used to the shifter in a week, its probably your fault, not the cars.
