Default Tire Question

Need help.....I am looking to purchase new rear tires for my 01 Cobra. I am currently running Nitto 285s on a 18x10 American Racing wheel. I am wondering if I can go wider without any rubbing. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You can probably get away with 315's without rubbing on 18's, especially if the car is lowered. The main problem is the IRS subframe bolt. If you look carefully when the suspension is loaded that bolt head isinside the diameter of an 18" rim.

I don't know of a 315 rated for a 10' rim, but I am sure it would fit. With that said, I DON'T recommend one as it is toolarge weather it is rated or not, IMO.Thereis a guyon this forumd that ran315's on 10.5' rim and believe they were on 18' wheels without a problem.

Look back post by post beginning about 3 weeksago and you will find it. At the time, there were about 5~6 posts about IRS and 10.5' wheels.

Good luck.

i would think for anything above a 295 you would want a 10.5

im lowered about 2inches and barely got 285/40/17 to clear the irs bolt. this is on stock 17x9 rims on the rear. so im pretty sure if i would of gone 295 i would of bolt rubb.
