cobra or mach 1

lol love this, also you have to add inthe fact the Mach 1 is a more of a rare mustang, i can barely find a mach 1 through all of the cobras i find.

The funny thing about the rarity of the car... 2003/2004 there were 19,140 Cobras built while there were 16,834 Mach 1's...
Basically means for every Terminator, there is 1.1369 Mach 1's out there... or 9870 Cobras on average vs 8417 Mach 1's...

Ruffcat- I want to personally extend a THANK YOU (your welcome) for providing me with the most misinformed, narrowmined, and opinionated(did I hurt your feelings? I'm sorry[sm=boohoo.gif]) post of my day. Let me point out a few things right off the bat:[sm=redx.gif]
1) Mach 1 seats are identical to cobra seats, just covered in leather center sections (desinged to imitate the vintage mach "comfort weave" seating), rather than the suede center sections prone to quick wear and deterioration found in the cobras. Well then they are not identical now are they![sm=wakeup.gif]
2) As has been said: Automatic mach 1s DID NOT receive some "crappy different" bottom end(uhh, did you not know they are completely cast internals?)[sm=yikesomg.gif], the only thing that IS different is a cast crank[sm=thanx.gif], rather than the forged crank that the manual mach 1s, and cobras received.
3) The wheels are no nicer, or pooer than cobra stock wheels. This is purely a matter of speculative opinion, rather than functional fact. I know many people that prefer the vintage look of the Magnum 500s over cobra stockers which have little to know base in mustang heritage. True
but the wheels[sm=roll.gif] are still ugly as sin.....lol
4) The mach 1s have more in common with the 03/04 cobra engines than a 96-98 motor so I havnt the least clue how you came up with that. Merely pointing out they only have 305hp and the same hyperuetectic crap internals. Regardless of the heads, they still produce 305 hp.
5) The mach 1s have no more in common with any bullitt than they do any terminator. (DOHC, T-3650, Solid rear end, Interior, exterior, etc) A mere comparison. I was referring to the brakes, the special intake the bullit has compared to the Mach induction and a few small features like suspension and exhaust like the bullits had.
6) Do you even know what "thy havn air induction" is called...I certainly hope you do if you are giving advice to someone on which car to choose. (Shaker hood) -yet another vintage cue. Most would rather pay extra for a S/C than a shaker hood which is quite pricey the last I checked.
7) How are they overpriced? Do you know what a lower mileage mach1 is selling for these days? YUP In anycase they are a bargain car for the 14-16K you can pick one up for these days. A car that is capable of low 13s bone stock How??? Tires and suspension is not "stock"...again how are they overpriced? Are you trying to reassure yourself here?[sm=signs007.gif]
All of these things being said- I say if money is not an issue, and you will eventually want something with more than 450 rwhp, then get the 03/04 cobra. They are 2 totally different cars, with different highs and lows. What's the high compared to the Cobra? You lost me on this one![sm=outcold.gif] TO me the vintage styling, mustang heritage,(this is why they are overpriced) and feel of a Solid axle mach 1 takes the cake- but to each their own. Solid axle is only good for the strip. IRS spanks that around town anyday of the week!

I'mnot saying the MACH is a completely ugly car, it just has some unnattractive features that just don't mesh IMO. EVERYONE that owns a Mach 1 thinks they have the baddest car around and it just drives me nuts! That's why I say they are overpriced because people think they are just worth more than what they really are, same with 03/04 Cobra's. I see them all over with 20kmi and people want $30k for them. I mean come on, they are going on 5 years + old and were only $35k spankin new with a friggin warranty. I'm done here.
Your turn![8D]

Well, I just had to have some fun. Not trying to put up fists, but obviously 2 diff. opinions clashing here along with 2 bits of misinformation.

Your turn![8D]
Good job- you figured out how to use the bold feature and edit a quote.
Here let me once again set the record strait.
1) You did not hurt my feelings, you actuall made me LOL at work and I almost got in trouble - the word would be closer to amuzed.
2) Beneath the cover (ie leather vs suede top layer they are identical in form, style, and build) therefore as far as they perform, look in shape, and feel they are 100% identical. They simply got a leather top layer that last more than a couple years. So compared to GT seats, BULLITT seats, or any other new edge stang they are identical.
3) Your comment was that "All Mach's engines are built exactly the same regardless of auto or stick!" and that was obviously totally false. If you read carefully ALL i was saying is that that is incorrect at best, NOT AT ALL what kind of internals machs received in general ...this is my second mach and im pretty sure i know what kind of internals they have- thanks.
4) Again totally opinionated and biased, and i would take a set of magnum 500s over a set of stock slowbra wheels anyday.
5) an advertised 310 in 2004 mr. know it all.
6) umm.buddy....machs, bullitts, and cobras all have the same dual piston 13" front disc brake setup made by PBR with different paint and finishes. So that makes absolutely no difference when it comes to associating a mach with a cobra or bullitt. Second of all there is nothing in common with the bullitt SOHC intake, and a mach 1 DOHC (almost identical to 99-01 cobras actually- just a better casting revision). Mach has DOHC, Bullitt has SOHC, Mach has solid Rear, Bullitt has solid rear...so AGAIN I state that the mach 1 is no more a Bullitt than a terminator and vice a versa. Mach also has a unique factor suspension with a slightly different drop than the bullits, and Tokico shocks and struts- again unique.
7) Where did I ever say suspension or tires were needed for low 13 second times? There have been great drivers that have gotten these machs to hit 12.9xxx bone stock, and almost anybody that can drive can turn a mid to low 13 second time. I personally have a standing time of 13.4 @104.5 with a BONESTOCK mach 1...so again tell me how that's not a good bargain drag car for 14K. All my "reassuring myself" aside nobody (besides you of course) can deny that that is a great package for a low price.
8) Now pay attention because this is intimately related to #7 (^). The mach 1 is not overpriced...therefore your argument for the vintage cues (that most find neat and interesting) about these cars being the root of why they are overpriced is moot at best, and holds little to no intillectual weight. What my final paragraph was saying is ultimately it comes down to the buyer's needs, desires, future goals, and ultimately wallet thickness. Oh and btw I have a modified Subaru WRX as my DD and when it comes to "the track" (meaning road course and auto x) i'll be your huckleberry. I have the mach for what it was made for, classical styling, great sound, strait line performance (because so many of us mustang owners buy a heavy RWD V8 for road racing and auto X) and a heritage that no 03/04 cobra can touch. I have ridden in several friends terminators, and to be honest once aluminum IRS bushing are in place, I can BARELY notice a difference in rear end behavior and ride comfort- not nearly enough to justify the added weight, the weak (expensive) stock halfshalfts, or the $$$ required to build up an IRS for heavy track duty with anything resembling a sticky tire.
In summation PLEASE dont try to label my initial rebuttal as 1 of "2 bits of misinformation" because it was not. what I said was based in fact and truth, not hearsay opinionated BS. Im very apologetic if i come across as just another mach 1 owner who "owns a Mach 1 thinks they have the baddest car around" because Im really not- i know my car isn't the hottest **** to go down the road but you better believe I take a good amount of pride in it, and am not going to let someone who has been misinformed spread a bunch of crap about it. Thanks and [sm=icon_cheers.gif]
On a side note WTH is up with the 's on this site...they seem to multiply beyond belief
Well IMHO the looks of both are great so power is the question. They are both unique in there own ways but that shaker hood just screams badass. Well now that I think of it so doesnt a stock 390hp rating too.
2) Beneath the cover (ie leather vs crap suede top layer they are identical in form, style, and build) therefore as far as they perform, look in shape, and feel they are 100% identical. They simply got a leather top layer that last more than a couple years. So compared to GT seats, BULLITT seats, or any other new edge stang they are identical.
