98 Linc DOHC to 97 GT Vert 2 questions
I pretty much have this figured out, and should be done in a couple weeks. I would love to get some good info on these 2 things.
1) The old IMRC question. I am going to do 1 of 2 things, either pin them open, or do the IMRC removal, where you take out the rods and plug up the holes with JB Weld. Is there much of a difference in these two things?
2) A Tune afterwards. I know my computer can run the engine, would a tune after this upgrade make a big difference? The only thing I am sure of is I need the RPM Limiter moved from the upper 5's to the upper 6's or so. I am not looking for exact number, I will do the research, but is there anything else the tune will do for me that would be significant? If I asked I would lean more towards gas milage than power as this will be a daily driver.
Keep in mind that I have as little money to throw at the project as possible. I don't need a ton more power than the DOHC will give me, I am really focused on efficient power, not necessarily more power. I want the car to run great, it will already be fast enough for me.

You will always want to have a good tune to make it the most efficient and smooth running as it can be. IMRC deletes will give you top end power but lose a little low Tq. Its up to you on that but definately get a good tune.
