Putting new rods and pistons in a 4V motor seems like a job for a professional. Could two knowledgeable home mechanics do it with the right tools you think?

umm theres like no difference between 2v and 4v as far as the rotating assembly goes...(correct me if im wrong anyone) most of the differnece lies within the heads and timing.

4v cars (except the Mark VIII and Auto Mach's got forged steel cranks. The only modular motors with stronger equipment off the assembly line would be the 03/04 Cobras, GT500's, and I believe the 5.4 DOHC in the R's as well.

+1 to mfj that is a good setup you can count on. I would always go with the best because later on in life 10k miles down the road you can F1 that 4 valve and there you get to use that great power. And with great forged pistons like the probe ones your tuner can screw up while he is doing his tune and hear some pinging and not F up your engine. Just pay a little more now and get a better longer lasting more hp holding shortblock. And if you have some extrah cash pm me and i have a great head guy out here that does someee crazzy heads with a cnc for a great price. I mean they flow greatttt
