negative... my am works great, and im running a carbon fiber hood with no ground...

it should still work its just suppose to help the signal strength, even if you take your antenna off the car your still gonna get radio

That strap is actually for noise suppression, not radio reception.

This may be unrelated but if I were to replace my hood insulation where would I get it new? I've also seen a cobra where it said COBRA from front to back while the hood was open. Is that stock on terminators or did someone make it? I looked around to see if I could buy it anywhere but came up with nothing.
