I get 13mpg city, which is the only driving I do. Never had to replace a clutch or tires yet. Cluth is in great shape & tires have about 80% tread left. Orig clutch & tires since 04.
Your best bet is to try and find a lower milage one but out of the 3 I say the first one you posted was the best. 97 cobra with 60k miles.

$1000 for TIRES and ALT.
Tires every OTHER year.

I recently got my 99 convertible and with city driving I get decent mileage. Not sure of the number but it gets much better gas mileage than my Dakota does. The Dakota gets 12 MPG. I am guessing my Cobra gets around 20 MPG. Much better than I expected.

tires will only be expensive if you buy the top brand. you can easily get some all seasonal tires for cheap. and alternators aren't expensive, buy one from autozone or kragen and get a lifetime warranty. as soon as your alty goes bad, take the bad one to store from which you bought and get a free replacement. an alternator installation is fairly easy
a caveman could do it.

I think McCloud is a retard. But that's besides the point, as I do agree with him on one point. All of those cars are bad trade candidates. If you're willing to take on car payments, you might want to look at a low milage 01' Cobra, or something like a 03/04 Mach 1. I got mine with 27k on the dial for 15k, and right about now you can find them pretty cherry with low miles for around that. If you can get at least 10k for your car which should be doable, and buy maybe a 15k Cobra or Mach, you'd be financing all of 7 grand which will have low monthly payments... or anyway of those types... something to think about...
But I would not trade your car for a car with double the miles... because chances are, are that you will be replacing parts and parts...
As far as gas milage, don't listen to him.. I had a 500+rwhp 2003 Cobra and yes, I drove it like I stole it and consistantly got 15-18mpg... I just went through tires every 9-10 months.. and now I have a 03' Mach 1 with 4.30 gears... and while I drive a bit more sane now, I took the car to the track ran 7-8 times, and basically beat the **** out of the car for the whole gas tank and I still got 17.5 mpg for that tank -- and yes, I check mine every fill up.
Every post I have seen from McCloud makes me think he's dumber, and dumber.

I so agree. An alternator that is of quality should last a good long time. Spend $300 and get one from PA performance, put it in yourself and forget about it for the life of the car. Im not gonna get into this but listen to what kazp3r has to say its made alot of sense.
