uhh is he doing the work himself? any decent cams will be atleast $1000 probably more, and if hes not doing the work himself its gonna be even more expensive... just tell him to buy a twin screw s/cer for low end.... or a set of 4.10s or 4.30s.

if i were to replace my cams i would also do the bottom end as well forged ftw... since ur in there.

he has 1600 to spend and we will be doing the work ourselves so the cams wont help his low end tq?

it depends on the cams... first things first he should do rear end gears if he hasnt already a set of 4.10s or 4.30s are the most noticable mod for the money... ask damn near anyone on this forum... also what are his plans for the car? F/i anywhere down the road?

in that case go with some comp cams, im not sure of an exact part/ part number im semi busy right now and don't feel like looking, some cams are better suited to N/a some are better suited to f/i.

if he is going f/i i wouldn't go any steeper than 3.90's, i have been told traction will be hard to find. that is all

well the gears he has now are good, but once you get into the 4.10's 4.30's or 4.56's you won't be able to get traction very easy. just some info you know.
