Default cold air intake

i looked around and got mixed answers.

do you need a tune if you put a cai on or a k&n fipk, and which one would be the best, i heard jlt's can get wet and k&n's soak to much heat, i found this one call a wms that puts it just right in the fender well, tell me what you think.

i'm not a fan of fender well filters Matt, i currently have one, and am going to switch it out to the stock air box with a k&n filter.

that wms filter it's bs just like any ad for a cai. you are not going to gain 22rwhp with any cai. it's the sad truth. probably 1-3 rwhp with other mods and a good tune.

if in your situation, i would go with the K&N FIPk, which i might also end up doing before i get my dyno tune.

so your going to put a k&n in the stock box with the snorkel and stuff?

could i eliminate the snorkel and just put a k&n in without a tune?

I have a JLT CAI on my Cobra, but my Cobra is not a DD....I had a Steeda CAI when I bought my car, which was also real nice!

JLT does make big power! ...I would still look into a tune at some point & maybe a pulley change!

Steeda intake FTW. I believe you need a dyno tune because your changing the position of your maf sensor from the 10o'clock postion to the 12o'clock position. Plus the steeda is better it has a open-ended filter.

no snorkel, just the box. i agree with tim, you'll make more power with a pulley swap, exhaust, intake, and a dynotune.

no, you don't really need a retune unless your changing the MAF... however, I would wait until you got the tune for the CAI this way you can actually get the full benefit out of it... There have been intake/exhaust terminators around 420 rwhp... it does add a bit due to the blower... but, you won't find much variation. I say get the cheapest JLT RAM AIR, or Steeda one you can find.

CHeck out www.svtperformance.com in the market section, or ebay...

Do yourself a favor....Buy what you want, CAI, pulley & exhaust...maybe upgrade the HE and THEN buy a SCT tuner or equal and install the parts! ...putting just a CAI is not going to give you much more than what you have now!

...trust me, the pulley wakes up the Cobra!

It makes no difference what position your sensor is located. I just installed a JLT CAI and installed the "snorkel" filter, as it is called , and placed the senor outside the engine compartment directly above the filter. As long as it is placed the correct direction of air flow, it will be fine.

so i just removed the snorkel...looks like all the other cai's to me...but there's oil coming down from my throttle body into the intake tube and down to the filter, any idea why or is there something wrong with the car?
