Thank you. I do not need it right now though I am still a couple months away from even buying the car.

Found it within 30 seconds of searching.. a complete explanation of the head tick, the parts needed to fix it, and how to diagnose it.

the head tick...i heard a video of it once...not good...it's louder than you wife/gf and she's loud...i would know

but seriously the video i heard of it was unbearable and you would just know, if it starts making any obnoxiously loud noises at idle then you my friend have a head tick issue on your hands

not as loud as the video i heard but this is what it sounds like...

I searched the threads not the posts then I went back and searched the posts. All I saw from the ones I opened were people talking about the parts, I already knew what parts I needed I didnt know how to diagnose it which is what I wanted to know. I also didnt search tick I searched Head Tick so excuse me someone had post a reply to something thats forums are meant for.

As far as my wife/gf being loud your just stupid and there is no reason for saying that. I watched the video and that is noticable and that is all I needed to know from this thread it was a very simple question but people felt the need to be donkeys about it.

Agent - all that post did was cement the fact that you did not take the time to look... all these threads were within the last 2-3 weeks... they might not be at the top of the page, but they're on the first 2-3 pages...

Nobody here minds answering questions on a forum; but it gets really irritating answering questions we've answered 34 times over a 1 week span.

Please use the search function first... and go over a couple of pages.

The heat tick sounds pretty nasty in the video clip!! ...you would know for sure if a Cobra had a bad head when your looking to buy for the sound of that!

I guess I did not look that hard and I will use the search from now on. My friend worked at a mechanic shop in downtown Atlanta and he said that he has never heard of head ticking occuring in the actual pistons. He said the valves are what usually cause the ticking. Is it just in Cobra's that the pistons are actually what cause it?

it's not the heads.. your friend is right... but what causes the valve guides to wear is due to the heat in the 7 and 8 piston due to lack of flow.. basically the coolant boils within the heads and has no route of escape... in that link someone provided to you earlier, and in the 2nd thread I posted for you there is an explanation of what happens..

"The sound is simply a worn valve guide allowing the valve stem to move. This is caused by overheating of the area due to poor coolant flow in the part of the left bank cylinder head. The lack of bronze valve guides in our heads makes them even more susceptible. The Jan05 heads come with revised coolant passages keep the exhaust valve guides cooler. This may also help to keep #7 and #8 cylinders running a bit cooler."

Thanks, I never really looked at that link however I did save it to my favorites so I would not lose it. I will deffinitly read it when I actually am close to buying the car and further more when I have problems with it. I feel like I have annoyed a lot of people and that was not my intention.
