Default coolant/antifreeze

what the best coolant to antifreeze ratio for termi's, and some people were talking about distilled water, can you really put water in an engine, it seems like it would boil?

yes water has to be mixed with antifreeze, 50/50 mixture, then, poured into the coolant tank. And distilled FTMFW

Wow... What a question coming from a Cobra owner? Just FYI, its always good to mix distilled water with antifreeze. And as for water boiling? Since the whole system is under pressure, the boiling point of water in the system is drastically increased...

Some people have had good results using a mix of 50% antifreeze, 24.9% water, and 25.1% waterwetter...

so don't get the 50/50 coolant/antifreeze mix from advance auto, just do 50% distilled water and 50% antifreeze or it that what that pre-mixed stuff is?

and could you do like a 70/30 mix to bring it down or does it HAVE to be 50/50?

It needs to be 50/50...

Technically, water has much better "cooling" effects, but you need to do a 50/50 mix....

...I'm not concered about the mixture, I'll mix 50/50 with some water wetter...But what about the air pockets with these Cobra's cooling system? ...I asked this question months ago and got no post...

I don't have a Termy, but I do have a lot of experience disregarding anti-freeze mixture suggestions from the manufacturer. A lot depends on the climate the car will be exposed to. We are headed into winter, so if you park your car outside and it freezes hard, you need anti-freeze, but you definitly don't need 50%. If you park in a garage, and the garage itself never freezes (which most garges never come close), you don't really need any anti-freeze. Water is the best disipator of heat, the more water you use, the cooler it will run. Water Wetter or a similar product will increase the natural dissipating characteristics of water. I don't run any anti-freeze in any of my vehicle, but I'm in Texas where it hardly ever freezes. You cannot run water without anything in it. You have to put some anti-freeze or Water Wetter for the lubrication and corrosion resistance. If I were you, seeing you're in VA, I would run a 10% anti-freeze, Water Wetter (or similar product), and distilled water.

I'm not sure how different the 03-04 cobras are, but on mine, I just fill it through the crossover tube with the overflow cap off util it fills to the correct level, then cap the overflow and fill the crossover until full. That's all I've ever done and never had a problem.
