I've been looking into late 90s cobras... I know they come with the T-45 tranny and Ive heard bad things about it. Is it something I need to look into as a factor to not buy one? Anything else I should be looking for in that style of mustang that will bring some concerns?
1996-1997 had Borg-warner T-45 98's had Tremec T-45 tremec i guess is s'posed to be better and the 98 is missing the clock on the dash but has the sweet wheel stock
in the t-45's just watch 3rd gear for some reason 3rd seems to be the problem gear, if its hard to get into 3rd then its a good chance the transmissions due for a rebuild soon
My 98 grinds a little on a high rpm shift from 1-2 and pops out of 4th some. I would definitely buy a 96-97 over a 98. the 96-97 has full leather rear seats, stock strut tower brace, clock pod on dash, better carpet, and a few other things. I think they have different fuel systems too, but not sure. The PAT's system is different but that doesn't make any difference. the 98 do have cooler wheels, but most of the 96-98 cobras i've seen have the different than stock wheels anyway. I wish i had the stock 98 wheels.
