Default Any tips on a solid axle conversion?

I know there are probably a million threads about this, but I'm not asking how to do it or any of that bs. To put it simple, I am putting the IRS and an auto in my GT so my wife can have it. Going to pretty much pussify the car(no offence meant). In my Cobra though, I want a solid because thats what I know and love. I already have 4.10s and lca's, and plan on getting 31 spline mosers and another cobra diff. or a powertrax.

My question, are there any little snags you guys could maybe warn me about. I'm still about a week out from doing this swap, I'm just trying make sure I have everything covered.

My primary question, from what I have heard I will have to swap the driveshafts out, have any of you done this or know if this is true? It seems the Cobras is about 3/4" shorter than the GT. Is that to much distance to just the swap rearends?

D/S will be defferent for sure... Auto SRA and Manual IRS??? Can't tell you the difference, but it might be possible to swap yokes on both to make it work. Swap the ABS sensors because they're different. You'll love the solid!!!

i got solid axle in my 03 cobra , i got a rear out of a 97 cobra, its got 31 splines with mosers, i just had to swap my pinon flane cause the 03 cobra has a bigger flange on it , you can still use the irs brake hoses, you cant use the irs shock they are bottomed out ,cause of the height of them. exhast ,and thats about it , i love my sra do put the sway bar on it , it rides good not like people here and there say.
after breaking 2 center chunks and 3 axles ,even the level 5s .you will be glad you did. no more tows home at 2am and no wheel hop! it handles great still too.
good luck

btw my d/s is still the stock 03 .

+1 on the shocks. People have tired to use IRS shocks on SRA and they're worse than stock GT shocks. no joke

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I will try swapping the yolks out to see where it puts me. If its not right then I guess I'll just swap d/s' and be done with it.
