I know a few people 700-800rwhp that have a 9" ... most people rather overkill then get killed, lol

Agreed, but the 9" is a pretty draining rear end, lol.

Very true. However, even the stock halfshafts have been launched hard with Whipples and KB's without breaking for a long time. Now, if these guys with Level 5 Halfshafts, are breaking them at 650 RWHP, they do not know how to launch a Cobra. Level 5's should handle around 800+ RWHP no problem. But, it is different for everyone. No one knows what happened.

I do agree the SRA's are stronger, and are meant more for Drag racing.

I agree that the IRS was truly not meant for Drag Racing, however with the right halfshaft's, bushings, etc. you can make them work as good as a SRA...

Remember, you're still going to have to put $$$ into a SRA as most will not want to run 28-spline axles...

Default Termi cobra 552 rwhp?

xxkazp3rxx,
My '97 Conv. is a 4-valve cobra, to start with.
One of 5 convertibles in '97. Here is a link:

Congrats.. but what does that have to do with this thread? There is nothing that being a Saleen Cobra has anything to add to this thread. The motor is completely different between the accounts.

But I do agree with not really launching well (snapping lvl 5 half shafts), but it does happen; that was my only point.

I totally agree man. **** happens. Just because you have a part that is supposed to be super durable, doesn't mean it won't break. I follow ya man.

...When it comes to Racing, everything is subject to break no matter how good it is!

In stock form i like the way the solid rear end feels. I have all new bushings for my 03 cobra and will be installing them soon. I will post what I think.
Has nothing to do with this thread but here is a 3rd gear pinned jump I did this weekend in ocotillo wells, CA pole line road
