Default Is this a deal? - and more ?'s

So I found a 99 Cobra locally with 55,000 miles on it. Don't know the condition but I guess it's at least decent. Asking price is 11900 but it's at a dealer, which means I can probably get a little bit off. What price would it take for this to be a steal? I also can't seem to find any stock dyno numbers on 99 or 01 cobras. Maybe I'm bad at searching haha. Thanks.

Like I stated in a previous thread the 99's had more recalls than 01's. Don't quite remember what. 11,900 already sounds like a steal but work for more. I got my 01 in late July with 48,000 on it and the body was in perfect condition. Got mine for 16,000. I blue booked it and it should have gone for 18,000.

Since the 99's have a lot of recalls, do more research on them OR pass...

whats so bad about the 99's? so theres a lot of recalls, just take it to the ford dealer and get it all fixed for free. if its being sold at a dealer its prolly already got them. I'd be sure to check to make sure you can still get the recalls fixed if it hasn't been done yet tho.

nothing really, assuming all the recall issues had been dealt with. But if you had to go with a 99 or an 01, get the 01. The IRS splines were beefed up, the seats, headlamps, e-brake boot, spoiler, and Cd player were all 'better'.

Truth be told, the IRS axles in the 99's and the 01's are the same, contrary to what Ford says... It's a lie! The 01's were supposed to come with 31 spline axles, but they never did.

I went to look at the car and it was very near to being cosmetically perfect. The only issue that the clutch was unbelievable stiff. I've driven a car with a spec 3, maybe a spec 3+ before and this clutch made the other feel as soft as a marshmallow haha. Luckily, the salesman said they were scheduled to fix it by next week, so I didn't get to drive it but can soon. He seemed to think I could get it for somewhere in the 11.2-11.4 range and I think I can get it just under 11. This seems pretty fair to me, but I really don't know - any thoughts? I've also never bought a car from a dealer like this before, any advice to help me get my price? Thanks.

Seems like a really good price. I would say buy it. Just make sure it has the recall done on it and the clutch fixed on it also. My clutch in my cobra is pretty stiff also, I think this just how they are.
