Default superchargers

I'm real new to this whole boost thing. Just trying to learn these things. Anyway when you get a sc how do you adjust boost. Is it like tuning a turbo by just turn a ****. Or do you have to constantly change pulleys for a higher boost application. Sorry to sound so retarded but like I said this is all brand new to me.

for a supercharger you have to change the pulley to adjust boost. pulley changes dont take but 5-10 min, get one boost level for street and one for the track.

...Having a better CAI can also up the Boost levels a little... as stated ^^^^, not much to change a pulley, but will need a tune.

Well all I have so far on my '01 is JLT cai, Steeda UDP, 4.10's, BBK lt and BBK cat-less H pipe, and SLP LM2, Spec stage 2 clutch and Fidanza Forged Steel flywheel, SCT SF3 tuner and Nitto 555 on all 4 corners. Do you think my set up is ok for kb with the factory pulley. Will my bottom end be ok? Oh and I have some Steeda Drag G-Trac suspesion mods.

i think the 4.10 gears are to much for a kb s/c, but good for centri style blowers. other than that i say kb all the way. the rest looks good.

yeah 4.10 might be a bit high of a gear, but it'll still be okay and your internals should be fine, 01 cobras had forged internals so go for it man.

I know the '01 came with the forged crank and heard it was rated to like 1000 hp or so but I heard that the rods and pistons were weak and made of some crappie material.

Yes, you have to change the pulleys, which isnt as inconvienant as you may think.. its not like you want to keep doing this anyways, your pulley size will give you your MAX boost, example stock cobra gives 8lbs (approx) with something like a 3 1/2" pulley, the smallest pulley made is 2.76" which gives 13lbs on a stock blower.
But just because you CAN make 13lbs, doesnt mean you always do, the superchargers have a boost bypass valve, meaning if you drive it nice around town, and even on the freeway, the supercharger is not FORCING air into the intake manifold, even though the screws on the inside of the blower are spinning, its keeping the boost at zero lbs. when you get on it, thats when it starts forcing air, and unless your at wide open throttle, your not even using the full boost anyways.

ut if you want to keep changing the pulleys, i'd suggest buying a pulley with an interchangeable hub so you dont have to press on the pulleys every time (5 min instead of a half hour) and its not a pain in the a$$

i also have 4.10's and im tryin and researching so much into what i am going to do next and next big power mod is a sc for me....from my research and what i have seen KB are sweet because unlike the other sc they have a nice low end low rpm boost and with the 4.10 that wont be fun...i have been looking at vortech its cheap and easy to install from what i have seen still looking for more feedback on it too
