Default Removing the engine

Can i remove lift the car off of the motor at home? Does this really need to be done at a shop? If any one knows of a good shop in houston i would appreciate the info. Right now im leaning towards rebuilding the block with forged internals doin some headwork and gettin long tubes. How much should headwork be? I got a quote for 800 thought it was high. 98 cobra low miles rod bearing making noise

it can be done pulling it from the top, but dropping the k member an lowering the motor/trans from the bottem is by far way easier and u dont have to worry about lining the hood up and scratching the paint n'such

mitch is right bottom is way easier and doing it in a garage you have to have an engine hoist and like 4 jacks and jack stands that can raise the car very high, high enough over the engine if you truly want to separate it from the car
