I cant get my 01 cobra in first gear without turning it off, so I adjusted the cable at the firewall then it was like new,for about 10 min. I think either my cable is stretched or my clutch is going out. Has anyone had this same problem?

Sounds like your cable is no longer good. Get a new one.
