It started with a light ticking noise and though it was the timing chain tensioners, so i changed them. After i changed them and as soon as i fired it up, it started making a horrible knocking sound, dont know what it is. Any help will be appreciated. Sorry for the video quality.

Rod Knock FTL...

 

Ok!! i bought a stethascope, so i listned to everything in the motor. The noise is the loudest in the front top by where the tensioners are at and the cam gears are at, both sides have the knocking noise! Placed it in the oil pan and there is no noise there. So what other things can cause that bad knocking sound in front side of the engine. My guess is that it can be numerous things, CAM TENSIONERS,CAM GEARS,TIMING CHAIN,CHAIN GUIDES,CAM BEARINGS, ETC......

 

There are so many things that could make a knocking noise from the engine. I thought my car threw a rod once and it turned out that a large rock had bent my oil pan. Youll just have to tear her down and see. Ill keep my fingers crossed that its something stupid and easy but be prepared for the worst.

 

both sides... weird, idk when my car shot a sparkplug out it started with a tick then went to a knock but i can't hear exactly how yours sounds, photobucket is down ATM.

 

Also, listening to video, is not the same as listening to the real thing. We can only speculate...

 

Update: Today my mechanic came he listened to the car he told me it was not going to be a big problem. He said the engine lost oil pressure to the top of the engine that's why it sounds like that. Now my question is, what can cause low oil pressure to the top of the engine, do i need to replace my oil pump, or what else can it be?

 

Might want to get a second opinion. Running your car on ZERO oil pressure, and the mechanic telling you that it's not going to be a big problem, makes me wonder how competent he is.
