03 COBRA TRANNY PROBLEMS
I HAVE A 03 COBRA AND THE SHIFTS ARE NOT AS SMOOTH AS BEFORE......AFTERMARKET CLUTCH, SHORT THROW SHIFTER, STOCK TRANNY.......40,000 MILES ON THE CAR......SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL SHIFT FINE, BUT MOST OF THE TIME NOW, SHIFTING IS NOT VERY SMOOTH, AND SOMETIMES HARD TO GET IT INTO 1ST GEAR......WOULD IT BE THE SYNCHRO'S STARTING TO GO? OR IS THIS A CLUTCH PROBLEM??? ANY ADVISE WOULD HELP
most likely you just need a quadrant cable adjuster... the stock quadrant supposibly "auto adjusts" but the little plastic teeth wear out... id suggest getting the steeda kit from americanmuscle.com (free shipping) for $100 and that will most likely solve it.
+1
Get a Fore FW adjuster and quadrant. Keep I REPEAT, KEEP your stock clutch cable...aftermarket ones are junk.
A test to see if it's your cable is start the car. Push the clutch to the floor and hold it...shift from first to reverse 5-6 times. If it feels notchy or not smooth, your cable is the problem. In the meantime, pull UP on your clutch pedal, that will re-adjust the pawl on the factory quadrant and clean up some slop. It should help.

I had the exact same problem with my car. All I did was replace the clutch and flywheel. You already did that so it just needs to be adjusted. My car wouldn't go into the the gears just like you explained even after the clutch insall as well. Just adjusted and was fine. But if you dont have a firewall adj. and quadrant I would highly recommend. Makes adjustment a mere minute.
had the same problem.
I followed these steps to adjust the clutch with the stock quadrant. Like the above had said, It'll be easier with an aftermarket adjuster.
