Default Fuel Question for 2001 Cobra

Hey guys,

I have been looking at 99-04 4.6 GT's, looking for a fun daily driver. I found a really nice 2001 cobra at a very reasonable price, I am just curious what drawbacks there would be to using on for a daily driver? It has 50k miles, is flawless and at a reputable dealer asking $11,XXX.

Do they require premium fuel? That is about the only drawback I can think of to daily driving one, other than putting miles on a nice car...

You shouldn't have a problem running 87 Octane unless you tune it for more power or the compression has been changed. Fuel Mileage can be pretty good even in the older cars, I got 24MPG with 4.10 gears and all my current mods. Ended up with 370miles to 15 gallons.

I agree you can safely run regular up until you do some major modifications and the gas mileage is pretty good. I would definitely go for the Cobra

So I found a really nice Cobra at a dealer for $11,999. It is a 2001, does that seem like a reasonable price? It is a red manual, 50k miles, leather, looks to be flawless.

Thanks.

Sounds like its under KBB by a little bit. Be SURE it is flawless, don't take on something that has issues. Test drive for more than a mile or two, once you are ready to purchase so you get a good feel for if anything is wrong. A Cobra is a MUCH better buy than a GT IMO with the prices of the older Cobras being only slightly more than the GTs. I picked up my 98 a few months ago for a hair over 5K and still love it. Let us know what your decision is, trust me you won't be dissatsified (if it is flawless or close to it)!

You need to run premium in the car (91 or better). The car will run like garbage on anything but.

In the 2001 cobra you HAVE to run premium, 91 or better like stated above. I believe it also say it on the dash, under either your rpm or speed gauge.

Their not SC, but they do have higher compression. You gotta run premium just like the mach's.
