Default which engine is a better building block?

I am not that knowledgable when it comes to the 4V cobra engines, just wondering which engine model would be a better starting point
96-98
or
99-2001

Do not have the funds to do the termi engine swap.

i would go with the 98 and swap the heads if your budget allows.

The Teksid block will be the best for any build over 500-600 HP. Your best bet for a 4V is to get a Teksid and buy your own rotating assembly, and then have it assembled...or just buy the new Aluminator shortblock or longblock. They can be had for around 4500 bucks and are a great, GREAT drop in motor.

Long Block = $6700 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9678

Short Block = $4500 http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9570

Other than that I agree with the other guys. Buy the 96-98 motor, and find a set of good heads to go on it. Not saying the B head is bad, but for most people the C head or the FR500 or Ford GT head perform better.

ya i can get a 96-98 engine (complete) for $3000, +$750 for the wiring harness and computer and other small things. Dont have the cash to lay down on a aluminator, tho i would LOVE to get one

Junkyards can be your friends...save your scratch man. Rebuilding engines can be pretty pricey as well. Sometimes they wont tell you that the engine is not a running engine...then you spend more $$$ trying to get it running. Just my preferrence, I will never buy a used engine. I may buy blocks, cranks, heads or in rare cases, rods...but not pistons, cams or valve train stuff. Too many things can be wrong without being visible.

Honetlsy for 4K you might be able to find a whole car at a junk yard, or even a used car on a lot. For 4K it will be beat up, but all you need it for is parts right? Just a thought bro.

A buddy of mine found a Teksid Cobra motor at a local yard for 275 bucks. Some junk yard guys don't know how high in demand they are.
