Default Clutch upgrade time...

Well, I was hoping to not have to do this for a bit, but the car has a mind of its own.

I've been noticing a lot of slipping and now I'm having a hard time getting into first gear. As soon as a I put full length subframe connectors on I've noticed more clutch slippage, which is interesting.

The care came with a Centerforce that was never intended to handle the power the car is making, so I expected this day would come rather soon.

I am pretty much 100% decided on a McLeod RST.

Wondering if I should upgrade to the 26 spline input shaft while I am at it and also get a brand new flywheel, if so, aluminum or steel?

Any suggestions/recommendations?

IMHO your stock input spline should be fine if your under 500hp 500tq, unless your drag racing with slicks. I have a Mcleod RST sitting in my garage and a new friction plate for my McLeod chromemolly flywheel waiting to go in when I FINALLY get my cooling mod in. I have been waiting 2 months for it to come in as it has been backordered. Do you still have your stock flywheel? They can be rebuilt. I got my RST clutch through Summit for $700 but I will be reusing my flywheel

If you have the money, I would upgrade to a 26 spline input shaft. I just finished doing my clutch/flywheel swap 2 weeks ago and went with a RAM billet steel flywheel and a spec stage 3 clutch kit w/ a centerforce tob. I didn't go with a 26 spline because money was an issue. I was set at the McLeod rst also, then wanted to go with a centerforce dfx, but I ended up going with a spec stage 3. It grabs plenty good for my taste. Like already stated, you can rebuild your stock one. McLeod is the maker of it and charge under 200$ to rebuild it. Shipping will be on you though which shouldn't be much. I would stick to aluminum. Reason I went with a billet steel was cause of cost.

I would say rebuild your stock flywheel, and get the McLeod RST. I have an extra pilot bearing sitting around if you want to replace yours, let me know and I'll ship it out to ya for free.

That would be great, I would be forever indebted to you.

I will PM you my address.

I ended up going with new Spec flywheel, the RST, a new TOB and retainer sleeve, and a Liberty 26 spine input shaft.
