Default 3-4 synchros ALREADY?!?!

car just rolled into 39,000 miles and i was driving it home friday and the 3-4 shift while cruising was grinding in, drove it to work and it was doing it again, if you baby it into gear it will slide it, and if your WOT it will go in....one transmission shop wants 800 to do syncrhos only 1,500 for full 30,000 mile warranty rebuild. aamco wants to do a free visual then 635 to pull it out and tear it apart to inspect it + worn parts. i already told aamco ill be doing the R&R so probly take it in this weekend for the visual and test drive and get a estimate from them also.

So are you ranting in this post or asking a question?

The Terminator T56 is an awesome transmission. The internals are built a lot stronger than the T56's in the Camaros and Trans Ams. More than likely, the previous owner was hard on the car, as transmission failure is usually more a cause of driver habits, than anything else.

My STOCK T56 (minus the liberty input shaft) has taken my abuse just fine...

from what ive heard it still has weak synchros but for the most part if you avoid power shifting it should hold, and dont miss your shifts, not really anything u can do driving habbity wise to prevent synchros unless you power shift when your cruising through town?

Not really... I mean, there's a lot of people that don't coordinate the clutch/shifter properly... Which results in them going into the next gear WHILE the clutch is already engaging, which is HELL on the synchros... If you shift properly, it shouldn't be a problem...

lol ive never even thought of that guess after you drive manuals since u were 13 or 14 its just nature, im pretty easy on the car as far as shifting goes im not slamming gears while crusing pretty slow smooth shifts but this car gets as much track time as it does street time so it gets beat on...i just dont like power shifting these ford trannies either after having my t-5 explode i just dont trust them so im even pretty easy on them at the track
